Our Story in React Native

Six years ago, we started with a simple belief: mobile development should be accessible to everyone willing to learn. What began as weekend workshops has grown into Taiwan's most trusted React Native education hub.

How DataDevMesh Started

Back in 2019, I was teaching JavaScript at a local bootcamp when React Native was just gaining momentum. Students kept asking about mobile development, but most courses were either too basic or impossibly complex.

So we started something different. Instead of rushing through frameworks, we focused on understanding the fundamentals first. Our first cohort had eight students who met in a borrowed classroom every Saturday morning.

Those eight students built real apps that actually launched. Word spread quickly, and by 2021, we had moved to our current location in Kaohsiung with dedicated lab spaces and industry partnerships.

What Drives Our Teaching

Real Project Focus

Every lesson connects to building actual applications. We don't do theoretical exercises – students work on projects they can proudly show to potential employers or launch as their own ventures.

Industry Connections

Our curriculum stays current because we work directly with Taiwan's mobile development companies. When hiring trends shift, we adapt our program within weeks, not years.

Personalized Pacing

Some students grasp state management immediately, others need extra time with navigation patterns. We structure our programs to accommodate different learning speeds without holding anyone back.

Meet the Instructors

Astrid Valerius, Lead React Native Instructor at DataDevMesh

Astrid Valerius

Lead React Native Instructor

Before joining our team, Astrid spent four years building React Native apps for fintech startups in Singapore. She brings real debugging experience and knows exactly where students typically get stuck with async operations and navigation.

Thea Grimsdottir, Mobile Development Specialist at DataDevMesh

Thea Grimsdottir

Mobile Development Specialist

Thea handles our advanced workshops on performance optimization and native module integration. Her background in iOS development gives students unique insights into how React Native actually works under the hood.

Our Learning Process

Foundation Building

We start with JavaScript fundamentals and React concepts before touching React Native. This prevents the confusion that comes from learning three technologies simultaneously.

Hands-On Development

Students build their first app within two weeks – usually a simple task manager or weather app. Getting something working quickly builds confidence for more complex projects.

Industry Integration

By month three, students work with real APIs, handle authentication, and implement features that mirror what they'll build in actual jobs. No more toy examples.

Portfolio Preparation

The final month focuses on polishing projects, code reviews, and interview preparation. Students leave with deployable apps and the technical communication skills employers want.

Why We Keep Teaching

Every few months, we get messages from former students about promotions, successful app launches, or new opportunities. That's what keeps us motivated to refine our curriculum and find better ways to explain complex concepts.

Mobile development changes fast, but the fundamentals we teach – problem-solving, clean code structure, and user-focused thinking – remain valuable regardless of which framework comes next.

Our next intensive program starts in September 2025. If you're ready to build real mobile applications, we'd love to have you join us.
